Cesar Villacres
French (1880-1941)
Born in Ecuador in 1880, School of Paris painter Cesar Villacres worked in South America and Paris.
The scene depicted is the Place de L’Opera, designed in 1857 by architect Charles Garnier and considered to be the heart of Paris, enveloping more than three acres making it the largest theater in the world. Best known for his impressionistic Parisian street scenes, Villacres uses keen sensitivity and quiet, silvery grey overtones to depict the formality of this city scene.
