Albert van Holsbeeck

Albert Van Holsbeeck was a Belgian artist, born in Brussels in 1877 and died in Etterbeek in 1948. He was a painter, draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator, miniaturist and designer of cartons for carpets. Van Holsbeeck was educated at the Academies in Antwerp and Brussels. As a Belgium post-impressionist, he specialized in landscapes, still lifes and portraits capturing his subject in colorful, broken brushstrokes. Van Holsbeeck was also regarded by Sander Pierron as one of the most skilled woodcarvers of the early 20th century. He was a member of the Société des Miniaturistes Belges (1933). His works are in the collection of the Bruges Print Room in Brussels.
