Dezso Raksányi

Hungarian (1879-1950)

Dezso Raksányi was born in Hungary in 1879. He studied at the Model Drawing School in Budapest with Bertalan Székely and at the Benczúr Master School, the first Hungarian art school.  From 1912 to 1921 Raksányi taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest.  He traveled to Paris, Florence, Munich and to Rome, where he won a gold medal. He created frescoes for churches and public buildings.

Raksányi’s paintings are in the large reading room of the Budapest University of Technology, the County Hall in Miskolc, the Minorite Church, the Parish Church in Székesfehérvár, Bory Castle in Székesfehérvár and the Lutheran Church in Csurgó.
