Victor Wagemaekers was born in 1876, in Gannshoren, Belgium. His first exhibition was at Le Sillon Academy of Art in 1899. He went on to study under Franz Courtens. Wagemaekers painted the landscapes of his native Belgium, including the Campine region, the Grimbergen countryside and Brussels and its surrounding villages. Wagemaekers was a member of the Société Nationale des Aquarellistes et Pastellistes, a society founded in 1899. In 1965, a retrospective exhibition of the artist's work was held at the Center of Art in Koekelberg. Wagemaekers' work is held in the collections of museums in Antwerp and Turnout.
