Warren B. Davis (1865-1928) played the piano as a serious student during his childhood, but later refocused his interests on painting and chose to attend the Art Students League in his hometown of New York City. Following his studies, Davis earned recognition for his paintings and pastels of neoclassical goddesses and idealized female figures, some of which were reproduced as covers for Vanity Fair"" magazine. He exhibited extensively from the 1880s until the 1920s and frequently won prizes for his submissions. At the age of 50
