Ogden Wood
American (1851-1912)
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1851, master animal and landscape painter Ogden Wood studied under the tutelage of Emil Van Marcke in Paris. Wood was a leading member of the American Society of Artists in Paris and the Brooklyn Art Association.
Wood exhibited in the Paris salons for thirty five years, as well as in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, National Academy of Design, Louisiana Purchase Exposition, St. Louis World’s Fair and Paris Exposition. His works are held in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, St. Louis Art Museum, Corcoran Gallery, Buffalo Art Museum and The Mar Collection of Detroit.
