George Albert Wood
American (1845-1910)
A Portland, Maine artist, Wood painted a variety of subjects ranging from still lifes to landscapes to genre scenes. Wood painted throughout the eastern seaboard, including Monhegan and Boothbay, ME and traveling as far south as North Carolina. Appropriately, his works can be found in museums and galleries throughout the country. His painting, ìSunflowers,î is housed at the Columbus Museum in Columbus, GA and the Baridoff Gallery in Portland, ME had an exhibit on Woods in 1984. Stylistically, his paintings are full of light and impressionistic in their use of color and texture
