Philip Von Saltza

American (1885-1980)

Born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1885, von Saltza eventually settled in Maine, living and working from Ogunquit up to Camden and beyond, capturing scenes throughout the small towns along the coast. Von Saltza studied at the Arts Student League in New York, and exhibited his works frequently at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Society of Independent Artists. Von Saltza was also a muralist, and worked as an artist with the WPA Federal Arts Project.
