Alfred Vickers, Sr.
British (1786-1868)
Vickers was a self-taught British landscape artist who drew his inspiration from nature. His style has been compared to that of well-known French artist Boudin. He captured the luminous English countryside with subtle layers of colors and with a ranging palette of pale greens. Vickers exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1831-1868, the British Institute and the Royal Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street from 1814-1868. His works are in the collections of museums in Glasgow, Nottingham and Sheffield.
