Jacob van Dieghem

Born in Hall, Belgium, in 1843, Jacob (Joseph) van Dieghem was a painter of pastoral scenes. He studied at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels beginning in 1864 and was particularly influenced by Eugène Joseph Verboeckhoven (1798-1881). Van Dieghem specialized in richly detailed landscapes and stable interiors featuring livestock, especially sheep.
