Frances Hudson Storrs
American (1860-1945)
Frances Hudson Storrs was born in New York City in 1860. Storrs studied with several well-known American artists including William Merritt Chase, Charles Courtney Curran and Edward Hale. She exhibited at the MacDowell Club in New York City in 1919. She was known for her florals and landscapes of local areas such as Old Lyme. Storrs was a member of the Woman’s Art Club of New York, Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, North Shore Arts Association and the Hartford Art Society. Her work is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford and the Sellars Collection of Art by American Women at the Huntsville Museum of Art in Huntsville, Alabama.
