Robert Carter Stanley, Jr.
American (1918-1996)
Born in Wichita, Kansas in 1918, illustrator Robert Carter Stanley, Jr. studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. One of the most prolific paperback book cover artists, Stanley worked for publishers such as Dell, Bantam, Beacon, Lion and Signet Books, among others. He also worked as an artist for magazines such as Adventure, Argosy, Redbook, Street & Smith’s Western Story Magazine and The Saturday Evening Post and painted many covers for Zane Grey’s Western novels.
