Sydney Dale Shaw
American (1879-1946)
Born in England, Shaw immigrated to New York City in 1892, where he lived for most of his life. He studied at the Arts Student League in New York, as well as in Paris at the Academie Colarossi and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Between 1914 and 1919, he spent the summers in Pasadena, California. Shaw was a member of the California Art Club, American Watercolor Society and Salmagundi Club. Records show him as exhibiting extensively between 1907 and 1929, at the Boston Art Club, Salmagundi Club, the New York Armory show in 1913, the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915, and at the California Art Club. His works are part of the permanent collection of the Colby College Art Museum, Waterville, Maine.
