Jean Eyles Lay Sauls
American (1921-2011)
Jean Lay Sauls was born in Davenport, Iowa, in 1921. She studied art at Grinnell College. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where she taught pilots instrument flying using the Link Trainer flight simulator during her enlistment. Sauls moved to Georgia after the war where she became known throughout the southeast for her impressionist oil paintings and watercolors of figures, still lifes and beach scenes.
