Amos Sangster
American (1833-1904)
Born in Ontario, Canada, Sangster moved with his family to Buffalo as a child. Although he received some early artistic training, he was mainly self-taught. While in Buffalo, Sangster worked as a wood engraver at the Courier Company. He also created a series of 153 original etchings of the Niagara River and Falls. Sangster was a charter member and first vice-president of the Buffalo Society of Artists.
