Emanuel Romano
American (1897-1984)
Born in Rome in 1897, Romano was a painter, illustrator, teacher and lecturer, known for his abstract figures and still life paintings. Romano studied in Switzerland with Enrico Glicenstein and moved to New York City to pursue his art. He was a member of the Artists League of America, and exhibited his works at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Society of Independent Artists in 1929 and 1938, Pennsylania Acadmey of Fine Art in 1945 and at the Art Institute of Chicago. Romano’s works are part of the permanent collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the Fogg Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other fine institutions.
