Archibald David Reid
Scottish (1844-1908)
Scottish watercolorist Archibald David Reid (1844-1908) was born in Aberdeen and spent the majority of his career painting the surrounding sea- and countryside. He attended the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and also studied in Paris. Reid earned membership in the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Scottish Watercolor Society and became an associate member of the respected Royal Scottish Academy. He exhibited extensively throughout his career, lending 70 paintings to the annual exhibitions of the Royal Scottish Academy and contributing works to other major shows in Glasgow, London, Manchester, and Liverpool. ReidÃs works are currently included in the collections of the Aberdeen Art Gallery.
