John H. Recknagel Jr.

American (1870-1940)

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1870, painter and teacher John H. Recknagel, Jr. studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City.  He also studied with the artist Jean-Paul Laurens and at the Academie Julian in Paris.

Recknagel exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Salons of America and the Salons of the Societe Nationale des Beaux Arts, Paris.
