Tom McCobb
American
A combination of self-teaching, studies with Carl Schmalz, Christopher Schink, Frank Webb and Serge Hollerbach, and formal art education at the Rhode Island School of Design and the National Academy, have coalesced into Tom McCobbÃs vibrant, loose painting style for which he is so well known. His friend and teacher, Schmalz, says McCobbÃs works are ìa celebration of living.î The harbors of Bremen, Friendship and South Bristol, the rugged topography of the coast, the rural farmhouses and colorful fields all make their way into his works by way of bold brushstrokes and bright color. McCobb is also a teacher at the Round Top Center for the Arts, Damariscotta, Maine and is a guest lecturer at Amherst College.
