Lee Lash
American (1864-1935)
Landscape painter Lee Lash was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1864. Lash began his artistic training in San Francisco, California, and studied further in Paris with Boulanger and Lefebvre. While in Paris, Lash’s paintings received favorable reviews at the Paris Salon and the Universal Exhibition. After spending eight years in France, Lash returned to San Francisco, where he established a studio. He was also a teacher at the School of Design from 1891-1893. By 1935, Lee had moved to New York, continuing his painting career on the East Coast.
Lash was a member of the San Francisco Art Association and the New Rochelle, New York Art Association. His works were exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1889, at the California State Fair in 1891 and at the World’s Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893.
