Frederick M. Lamb
American (1861-1936)
Frederick Mortimer Lamb (1861-1936), a native of Middleboro, Massachusetts, commenced his artistic career as a student at the Massachusetts Normal Art School and later continued his efforts at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Academie Julian in Paris. Following his studies, Lamb taught clay, casting, and oil painting classes at the New England Conservatory of Music and participated in the arts community as a member of numerous organizations, including the American Watercolor Society, the Boston Art Club, and the New York Watercolor Club. Lamb exhibited his works through these clubs and societies for many decades and also contributed paintings to competitive national shows at BostonÃs Twentieth Century Exposition in 1900, where his submission earned a gold medal, as well as at the 1915 Pan-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco and the 1893 WorldÃs Fair in Chicago.
