Pierre-Ernest Kohl
French (1897-1985)
Born in Monaco in 1897, Pierre-Ernest Kohl’s grandfather was the founder of the Monte Carlo Casino and his father managed hotels. Kohl’s family finally settled in Lausanne in 1909 where he began his studies in 1910. In 1915 he completed a one-year internship as a designer-architect in the Monod & Laverrière in Lausanne, then studied Fine Arts at the Loup Academy in Lausanne. In 1919 he moved to Geneva, then Bern and finally Paris, where he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon d’Automne. Kohl’s work is in the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
