Richard Kimbel
American (1865-1942)
Richard Kimbel was born in New York in 1865. A well-established genre artist, Kimbel was a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York City, as well as the Allied American Artists, the National Arts Club and the New York Society of Painters. He exhibited extensively during his career including at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery biennial shows in 1919 and 1921, and at the Salmagundi Club in 1930, where he won a prize for his entry. Works by Kimbel are held in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art’s collection.
