Alice Judson
American (1876-1948)
Alice Judson was born in Beacon, New York in 1876 and attended the Art Students League in New York City, where she studied with well-known impressionist artist John Henry Twachtman. Judson had an active art career, and belonged to numerous Northeastern art associations including the North Shore Art Association, the Duchess County Art Association, Putnam County Art Association, Hudson Highlands Art Association, Pittsburgh Art Association, and Gloucester Society of Artists. She also was a member of the National Academy of Woman Painters and Sculptors, and the Society of Independent Artists. Judson became known for her harbor scenes, painting frequently in Gloucester, Massachusetts and along the Hudson River in New York. She also spent time traveling and painting abroad.
