Carl Hilgers
German (1818-1890)
German artist Carl Hilgers (1818-1890) was born in Dusseldorf and studied art at the Academy of Dusseldorf. Hilgers employed his extensive travels throughout Germany, France, Belgium, and Holland as inspiration for his country landscapes and genre scenes. He began exhibiting his paintings in 1838, showing works primarily in Berlin and Dresden. Currently, the Dusseldorf Art Museum owns three of Hilgers` landscapes.
