Arthur Herrick
American (1897-1970)
Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, Herrick graduated from the New School of Design in Boston (now the Vesper George School) and initially worked as a freelance illustrator and package designer before turning primarily to landscape painting. In 1963 he moved to Westmoreland, New Hampshire, but continued to paint in the Gloucester area of Massachusetts, with Aldro Hibbard and Anthony Thieme, with whom he studied and became friends. Herrick was a member of the Copley Society, the North Shore Art Association of Gloucester, the Sharon Arts Center and the Keene Art Association. His work has been exhibited at Keene State College, the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut and the Vose Galleries in Boston.
