Frank Hazell
American (1883-1958)
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1883, Frank Hazell moved to New York City in 1910 to study at The Art Students League with Francis Luis Mora. He was an illustrator for Century Magazine and painted travel posters and brochures for The Outdoor Advertising Company. He was commissioned to do paintings for Princeton University and West Point, as well as other institutions. Hazell also taught advertising art at The Grand Central School of Art.
Hazell was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the American Watercolor Society, the New York Watercolor Club, the Society of Independent Artists and the Guild of American Painters. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy, the Society of Independent Artists, the Guild of American Painters, American Watercolor Society, the New York Watercolor Society, the Art Association of Newport and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club.
