Maurice Grun
French (1860-1947)
Maurice Gr¸n (1860-1947), although born in Estonia, spent his life and career working in France. He entered into artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich and later enrolled at the Academie Julian in Paris, where he worked under noted teachers Jules Lefebvre, Tony Robert-Fleury, and Benjamin Constant. As a landscapist and portraitist in both oils and watercolors, Gr¸n exhibited at the prestigious Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris and became best known for his nocturnal and moonlit landscapes.
