George Gibson
American (1820-1896)
Born in England in 1820, engraver, etcher and painter George Gibson studied at the Royal Academy in London. Gibson emigrated to the United States with his family in 1848. Using pencil and watercolor, Gibson sketched California mining, landscape and city scenes until 1851, at which time he moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he set up a lithography company, Gibson & Company.
