Oldrich Farsky
American (1860-1930)
Farksy was a Czechoslovakian artist who studied at the Art School in Prague, and traveled throughout Italy, France and Holland before moving to Chicago in 1893. Throughout the early 20th century, Farsky was a prominent member of the Czech immigrant community in Chicago, and became a member of the Czech Artists Club. He exhibited his works in a number of exhibitions, including an exhibition held in Cleveland by the Slavic Alliance of Cleveland. Farsky lived in Los Angeles in 1925-1928, and during his travels painted the mountains of Colorado and Canada. He died in Berwyn, Illinois in 1930, and is the father of Edward Otto Farsky (1900-1973) and Aldrich Farsky (1895-1968). There has been some confusion between Oldrich Farksy, the father, and his youngest son, Aldrich, who was said to dabble in painting but never achieved the success or sophistication that his father achieved in his art.
