Joseph Eliot Enneking
American (1881-1942)
American Impressionist Joseph Eliot Enneking was the son of landscape painter John Joseph Enneking. Enneking was born in Hyde Park, Massachusetts and studied at the Boston Museum School with Joseph deCamp, Frank Benson and Edmund Tarbell. He was closely associated with the Boston area for much of his career, and had a studio in Brookline, where he painted around Mill Pond.
Enneking was a member of the Rockport Art Association, Copley Society, North Shore Art Association, Salmagundi Club, and New Haven Paint and Clay Club. In addition to the New Haven and Boston clubs, Enneking also exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Enneking’s work is held in the collections of the Springville Art Museum, Utah, Mystic Art Association, Connecticut and Cape Cod Museum of Art in Massachusetts.
