Francis Dodge
American (1878-1969)
A painter, etcher and lecturer, Dodge studied at Michigan State University, Syracuse University, The Art Students League in New York and The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She received specialized training in watercolor in Chicago; in etching in New York from Joseph Pennell; and in portraiture and oil painting in Cincinnati where she was a student of Frank Duveneck. She was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers, the Cincinnati Women’s Art Club, the National Association of Women Artists and the Chicago Painters & Sculptors. Dodge exhibited her works at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Art. She and her husband were charter members of and she was vice-president of the Easton (MD) Academy of Art.
