Berthe Des Clayes

Canadian (1877-1968)

A native of Aberdeen, Scotland, Berthe Des Clayes (1887-1968) immigrated to Montreal, Quebec, where she continued to live and work throughout her career. She attended the Academie Julian in Paris as well as the Herkomer School in London and earned associate membership in the Royal Canadian Academy. Today, her work is included in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada.
