Emilienne Delacroix
French (1893-1990)
Born in Chalette (Loiret), France in 1893, self-taught artist Emilienne Delacroix settled in Côte d’Azur before the war, where she worked as a seamstress. Noticed and encouraged by Picasso and French poet Jacques Prévert, she left her profession to devote herself to her painting career. Delacroix created covers and illustrations for books by French poets Jacques Prévert and André Verdet.
