Warren B. Davis
American (1865-1928)
Warren B. Davis was born in 1865 in New York. Trained at the Art Students League in New York, Davis established himself as a painter of graceful and poetic female figures. He was also a magazine illustrator, and his work was published in Vanity Fair both as covers and interior illustrations. Later in his career he became a skilled etcher. He exhibited in Europe and the United States, including the Pennsylvania Academy and Salmagundi Club. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Detroit Institute of Art, Princeton University Art Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
