Alfred Conquest
British (1849-1928)
Alfred Conquest was born in Woodford, Essex, in 1849. He was known as a painter of coastal scenes and landscapes in St Ives in England and in Brittany and Normandy in France. Conquest exhibited in the Paris Salon in 1882 and 1883. He paid his first visit to Cornwall in 1884. By 1890 he was living in St Ives and continuing to exhibit widely. Conquest exhibited at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Grosvenor Gallery, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, Manchester City Art Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Hibernian Academy and Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
