C. Myron Clark
American (1858-1923)
Born in New York in 1858, Clark lived and worked in the Boston area. Primarily a marine painter in both watercolor and oils, Clark was commissioned by the State of Massachusetts to paint the frigate The U.S.S. Constitution in 1906, and painted many important sailing vessels of the day. When not painting marine scenes, Clark appears to have traveled widely, as his landscapes capture the mountains of British Columbia, Lake Louise in Canadian Rockies, Davidson Glacier in Alaska and the canals of Venice, Italy. Clark’s work is held in the collection of the Peabody Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, as well as the Alaska State Museum.
