Jacques Marie Omer Camoreyt
French (1871-1924)
Born in Lectoure, France in 1871, painter, engraver and illustrator Jacques Marie Omer Camoreyt studied under Léon Bonnat, Fernand Cormon and Albert Maignan. Camoreyt was a member of the Société des Artistes Français and participated in exhibitions in the Paris Salons of 1899, 1900 and 1905. He illustrated a number of books and in 1929, was commissioned by Frederick William Nichols to paint a mural of the Grand Canal in Venice in Evanston, Illinois.
Camoreyt’s works are held in the permanent collection of the Bayonne Museum.
