Edward Burrill
American (1835-1913)
Born in Newburyport, Massachusetts, Burrill worked as a lithographer in the 1860s, and was also employed as a photographer and assistant draftsman at an architecture firm. While living in Boston during that time, Burrill met many other painters, including John Enneking, Frank Millet, Winslow Homer, Thomas Dewing and William Norton. By 1867, Burrill had moved to Lynn, Massachusetts, and helped create the artistic colony there, also teaching at the Lynn Evening Drawing School. Burrill exhibited his works at the Boston Arts Club from 1877 until 1901, and became well-known and respected for his paintings of cattle, landscapes and interiors.
