Arthur Brusenbauch
Austrian (1881-1957)
Born in Bratislava, Czechoslavakia in 1881, Arthur Brusenbauch studied at the State Trade School and Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and under the tutelage of noted landscape painter and decorative artist Johann Kautsky. In 1920, Brusenbauch joined the Vienna Secession, a group of progressive artists and architects founded in 1897 by Gustav Klimt and others, that withdrew from the conservative Viennese Artists’ Association in an effort to promote art that celebrated modernity.
Brusenbauch exhibited works at the Galerie 422, Gmunden, Herakleidon Museum, Athens, Kunsthalle Attersee, Attersee and at the Galerie Ariade in Vienna. In 1928, Brusenbauch was selected to represent Austria in the art competitions of the Olympic Games and in 1956, was awarded the Golden Laurel of the Kunstlerhaus.
Brusenbauch’s works are held in the Landesmuseum of Lower Austria’s, St. Pölten permanent collection.
