George Fagan Bradshaw
British (1887-1960)
George Fagan Bradshaw was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1887. Bradshaw was a submarine officer and a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy until 1921. For his efforts, he won a Distinguished Service Order during the First World War. After his service in the Navy, Bradshaw focused on his artistic career, and his works were exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists as well as the Royal Academy. He was also one of the founding members of the St. Ives Society of Artists. His works are in the permanent collection of the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
Bradshaw’s naval background combined with his artistic skill led to his proclivity for painting marine scenes, in which he captured the boats and harbors around England.
