Guy Bigot

Painter Guy Bigot was born in Vitre, France in 1918. He received his artistic training at the Academie de la Grande Chaumier in Montparnasse, France, where he studied under Othos Friesz between 1938 and 1941. A member of the Salon d’Automne, which developed as a reaction against the conservative Paris Salon, and became a center for 20th century innovations in paintings and sculpture in France, Bigot exhibited his works there beginning in 1942. He also exhibited regularly at the Salon des Realities Nouvelles, winning the National Prize in 1947 as well as the Hallmark Prize in 1949 for his works.
