Edward H. Barnard

American (1855-1909)




Born in Belmont, Massachusetts, Barnard studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and in 1877 was in the first class at the Boston Museum of Art School. Barnard also studied in Paris at the Academie Julian in the late 1880s with Gustave Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre. Barnard exhibited extensively during his career including at the Boston Art Club, the National Academy of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a member of the Boston Watercolor Society and the St. Botolph Club.
