Camillo Adriani
American (early 20th century)
Camillo Adriani was born in 1900 in Massachusetts. He studied art in Boston and was especially recognized for his vibrant portrayal of snow scenes. He travelled throughout New England painting the harbors of Rockport and Gloucester and the towns on Cape Cod, as well as the snowy landscapes of Vermont.
Travelling beyond his native New England to Arkansas, Adriani uses juicy, energetic brushstrokes to capture the colorful fall foliage in “In the Ozarks.” The strongly designed landscape echoes the influences of the American Arts and Crafts movement and leads the viewer down the foreground path, across the shimmering lake to the rising mountains.
